Vista's Children

Sopheak Kum is 10 years old. She lived in Rouka Kpous District, Srang Commune, Kandal Province. Her father died in 2000 when he was 40 years old. Her mother is 32 years old, but she is in prison for theft and for living with a neighbor’s husband. Sopheak moved to live with her uncle. After one year, her uncle could not provide for her and he had no time to take care of her. He wanted to bring her to live in an orphanage. When she lived with her uncle, she did not have good food to eat, she had no chance to go to school and she did not have good clothes like the other children.

Now she is living in the Vista-Asia's Hope orphanage. She is very happy and enjoys being with other children. She gets to go to school, which was a dream of hers. She loves the orphan home very much. She has come to believe in Jesus through orphan home director Savong.

Phalla Phat was born May 10, 1993. He is now 14 years old. He lived at Kbal Touklour Village, Dom Sangka Commune, Phnom Srouy District, Kampot Province. His father died of an illness. His mother died in an accident. At age 9, he moved to live with an adopted mother after the death of his parents. He didn’t go to school and everyday he had to go and take cows to a place for grazing. The field that he took the cows to was far from his home. One day, the leader of his village told him about an orphanage in Kompong Speu, and he moved there for two years. However, the orphanage lost its sponsors so it had to close. His adopted mother found out about the Vista-Asia's Hope orphanage and brought him there.

Now he has new parents that care for him every day. He has come to believe in Jesus. He thanks God that he can come to this orphanage. He has good food to eat, nice new clothes and he doesn’t have to worry about tomorrow. Thank God!

Sokheng Seng is six years old. He lived in Beong Keng Kang II Commune, Chhomka Moun District. His father died of an unknown illness. His mother died two years after his father of unknown causes. He moved to live with his aunt’s family, but his life was difficult. After a few months his aunt was using him as a servant. She always wanted him to work, even though the work was too difficult for him. He had to sell boiled bananas, and take them from street to street to sell. He walked several kilometers every day. Some people had pity on him and told his aunt about the Vista-Asia's Hope orphan home, so she brought him to the orphanage.

Now he is happy. He has good food to eat, he can go to school, and he has friends to play with at the orphanage. He can learn about the Bible and he loves Jesus very much.

Seyha Ton is 10 years old. He lived in Boh Angan Village, PrekEng Commune, Keean Sway Commune, Kandal Province. His father died of HIV. His mother died of a complication with boils. After that, he moved to live with his uncle. His uncle fed him, but did not provide clothes for him or send him to school. Each day he had to lead cows to an area for grazing. He picked the leaves of a water plant to sell at the market. His uncle brought him to the orphanage because he wanted Seyha to go to school.

His dream for going to school has come true. He has new clothes. He has also come to know Jesus through orphan director Savong.

Sok Chooen Nee came from Kabal Duck Lou Village, Chom Sangka Commune, Phnom Srok District, Kompong Speu Province. He does not know how old he is. His father and his mother have both died of unknown causes. After their deaths, he went to live with his uncle’s family. He did not go to school. Each day he had to help take care of the farm. His uncle’s wife always would punish him when she thought that he did things wrong. After a while, he could not live with that family because of the aunt’s punishments. He decided to run away and live with his friend. He and his friend came to the Vista-Asia's Hope orphan home to live together.

Now, he has a good life in a new place. He can go to school, he has food to eat and new clothes to wear. It makes him very happy.

Tee Motay Chhey is 5 years old. He is the brother of Rebeka Chhey. He lived in Touk Tlar Commune, Rousey Kav village in Phnom Penh. His father is a taxi driver, but he divorced his mother and got married to a new woman. His mother was broken hearted and has become mentally unstable. She can not even remember who her children are. Often, she would leave and no one would know where she went. Motay did not have anyone to take care of him, so their neighbor took he and his sister to the Vista-Asia's Hope orphanage.

He is very happy to be living in the orphanage. He has food and clothes and is able to go to school. He has come to know Jesus through orphan home director Savong. He has a good place to sleep at night. He knows that his life now is much better than before.

Rebeka Chhey is seven years old. Tee Motay Chhey is her brother. Now that she has moved to live in the Vista-Asia's Hope orphanage she is very happy. She says it is like having a new life. She feels comfort from her new parents (the orphanage director and his wife). They take very good care of her. She has food to eat, a safe place to live and she can go to school. Especially, she can ride in a van to go to school! She is also happy that she knows about Jesus.
