A Sweet Spirit

Tonight, we spent some time with university students at the student center in Chiangmai. We all ate dinner together, sang some songs, and then had a small discussion about the Bible. I was so deep in thought, that I failed to get a picture of the time. I wish you could meet these young women. What sweet spirits they have. There is an innocence and genuineness about them.

One of the women spoke about a passage in the Bible and talked about how God is moving in her life. Through most of it, she had tears. I was struck by the fact that 10 American strangers showed up unexpectedly, and yet she was so honest and open with her heart. And all of the students and children I meet at the orphanages and student centers over here are like that. There is no pretense, they are not trying to hide, and they have no other agenda when they are with you. They just want to love and be loved. How incredibly refreshing. And how amazing considering the tough lives these children have had. It makes me want to love and serve them even more.

Tomorrow, we will be celebrating Independence Day at the American consulate here. I can say that's something I have never done before! We will also continue to spend time teaching English at school and playing with the kids.

Our time here is winding down. I know that if I wasn't coming back, I would be feeling a lot more emotion at this moment! Please pray that we don't miss a moment of what we need to see or do in these last couple of days.

I just found this blog from Tony's and it's great to see a little of how you're doing. I've been thinking about you a lot lately, wondering what you were up to. Now I know a little better how to pray! I'd love to catch up some time, it's been a long time since Mac North! Shoot me an email when you have some time.

Jen,
I can't stop reading about your journey. Everyday I am amazed at God's greatness. The Lord calls us to be servants onto him and my what a servant you are. I will continue praying for you and the lives that you are reaching.
