Lice-capade

Today was an incredibly busy day. It was also my last day in Thailand for a while. I leave tomorrow for Cambodia...short flights, but long layover! I am looking forward to being there, yet will miss the people here terribly. I am so glad that I will get to come back!

So, today, we helped to rid the orphans of lice. It's so hard to keep their heads free of it...they treat it, and the kids go to school and get it again. With so many living there, you can imagine how quickly it spreads. We knew that many of the girls had it just by glancing at their hair. (My head is itching just thinking about it:)

We had an assembly line going of wetting there hair, washing, rinsing, combing, and picking. My teaching friends can tell you that picking lice out of hair is not something that I would ever have wanted to do before! But I gotta tell you, this was one of the most rewarding times here yet.

I wrote the verse James 1:27 in my last post...about taking care of orphans in their time of need. There is a joy in helping these kids that I can't explain. And at this moment, what they needed was for us to pick out lice. It was their dinner time, so we had to stop. But what we really wanted to do was to stay there until we got it all out. (Don't worry, they are going to continue without us.)

Since tonight was our last night here, the kids had a special treat...ice cream sandwiches. But, it really was a sandwich. Ice cream in the middle of a bun. I know, not what you would expect, but they absolutely love it.

I may not be able to post as often now that I am going to Cambodia. Hopefully, I will be able to get internet at the guest house and get back to regular posting. Thanks for your continued comments and prayers!!
