Birthday Fun

Today is my birthday! Well, it is here in Cambodia anyway as it's just hit midnight making it May 2nd. Happy birthday to me. And also a big "Happy Birthday" to my sister. No, we're not twins. But we do share this day together.

A few friends surprised me by taking me out to dinner tonight. We went to a restaurant that I hadn't been to before. It was by my standards incredibly nice. You know, the kind of place where they put your napkin in your lap for you. I got my favorite Pad Thai and some birthday chocolate mousse for dessert. (Or as the menu spelled it, chocolate mouse.)

They surprised me with great gifts. Like elephant oven mitts,

a beautiful pink scarf,

and my favorite gift...a jar of Miracle Whip. Seriously. I have been looking for that for the past couple of weeks at seven different stores. No clue where they found it, but it makes me happy. As you can see:)

What a great night. And the fun doesn't end. In a few hours, I am leaving for Vietnam for a few days. Yes, that surreal feeling continues. Can't say I would ever have imagined that I would be taking a trip to Vietnam on my birthday. Truthfully, the trip was not planned as a birthday trip, but I will enjoy the happy coincidence anyway.

So don't be distressed if I don't post for a few days. I am not sure what my access to internet will be. But, I will make sure to come back with lots of pics for you. Please pray for our travel safety and my continued health on the 8 hours that we will be on the bus. Thankfully, I am feeling much better after my bout with strep. Thanks for praying!
