Guest House

Today I moved into the guest house, which is about 20 minutes away from the orphanage. A young lady from Canada came who will be staying at the orphanage, so I had to move out. Thought I would post some pictures of the Asia's Hope guest house...for those of you who are considering coming on an Asia's Hope mission trip to Thailand but are worried that you wouldn't be able to handle the accommodations. The guest house is definitely not like where I have been staying the last couple of weeks!

Below is the Asia's Hope Guest House.

It's located in a gated community across the street from a little park (below).

The interior is quite comfy...

with AC!!

The rooms have bunk beds.

The bathroom has a bathtub...

And the best part....

the western toilet. (If you are wondering why I say that...reread the blog entry about the squatty potty in the room at the orphanage where I have been living.)

So, if you are wondering if you can go on a missions trip to Thailand...the answer is YES! You may even find yourself coming back someday to live in a room with no AC and a squatty potty and a rooster crowing outside the window. My first trip here was in 2005...and the other team members would tell you that I was the LAST person they thought would ever even come back on a short term mission. Look what God can do:)

Tonight, we went swimming with the kids and then hung out at the orphanage. The younger girls hung all over me tonight and laughed a lot. (I don't think they were laughing at me...but then, I can't speak Thai so who knows!) Here are some shots of their adorable faces.

So glad your health is back! I love the pics of the kids and of the guest house. I was thinking of you yesterday as I was in the shower. A spider decided to visit me, however not as impressive as the one in your shower. I am so proud of you and how you are letting God lead you. What a great example of faith you are! Love you friend!--Crissy

I like the guest house, Jen. Is that your motorcycle in the front? I know you said you were considering getting a bike, but I didn't realize it was THAT kind!

Remembering the spider incident...It made me think that instead of teaching the children the all time favorite "Itsey Bitsey Spider" song you would have to change the words a little to... "The BIG ENORMOUS spider went up the shower wall"...The kindergarten teacher in me couldn't resist that one.

Love you,
Momma-Jo
