Sunday

This morning we had a typical Sunday service. Most of the kids were dressed in their Hill Tribe outfits. Each of the groups of kids sang songs for us...and the staff did special songs too. I don't have words to describe what it's like to hear them sing. I can't understand a word, but their passion and love for God is quite clear. They worship from their hearts, and it brings me close to tears each time. I wish I could transport each one of you here, so that you could experience it for yourselves. (I'm working on getting video up:)

The short-term team that is here includes 9 people from Ohio, and 5 of them are nurses. So after church was immunization time! All the new children and the staff got shots - about 75 in all. The kids were so brave, which is one thing I have noticed about the orphans in both countries...they are pretty stoic when it comes to doctors and dentists. A few tears from the younger ones, but overall, they handled it extremely well!

Kids wait for shots.

The kids got both shots at once to lessen the anxiety.

The littlest ones wait. A few more tears for these kids:(

Poor Sai gets a shot in each leg. Afterward, she wouldn't walk, so I carried her back to the nursery. It's the only time she has let me carry her.

Tomorrow (Monday) we head up to the farm at Wiang Pa Pao to do a medical clinic for the Hill Tribe people in that area. It's about an hour and a half farther up the mountain...a very long and winding drive. I'll write more tomorrow about what the farm is. You can pray for our travels as well as our ministry to the people there.

Hi Jen. It's Jim Sharvin in Los Angeles. Wow, I am just so impressed that you have been blessed with the love of SE Asia and the children to be spending 10 months there. I am truly envious! Plus, I took a quick run through the blog and see how many times you have been returning there. Ever since my second trip, I have been aching to return, and the pictures I have of the children on my refridgerator every day don't make being so far away any easier!

I want to hear how you were able to just let everything take over your life and accept that returning to SE Asia was your calling. I am in contact with Glenn in Montreal, and there is a better than even chance I will join him in Thailand in October. Meanwhile, I will be visiting Columbus next week and hope to meet up with Sherrod for lunch.

Drop me a line at sharvdad@yahoo.com.

Say hi to Dave and Tutu, and know I am praying for your health and safety.

Jim
