Battambang

I am sure that I will write more later, but just wanted to say that we arrived safely in Battambang. The pace of life is so much slower here. We were eating lunch in a restaurant, and it struck Megan and I both that it was quiet. The continuous noise in Phnom Penh became so "normal" that I didn't even realize just how noisy it really was.

It's also cooler here...a nice breeze is blowing. I am sure it doesn't compare to the weather in the states right now, but it's the first time that I can remember since arriving that I am not instantly perspiring when I walk outside! It's the little things:)

We hope to get out to the orphanages tonight. Megan's church sponsors one of the orphanages here, so we definitely want to spend as much time with them as we can.

I am typing from an internet cafe. I had forgotten what it's like to use these antiquated machines...broken mouse, slow connection, keyboard with letters that stick. It will make me appreciate the internet connection in PP even more! No laptop means that for a few days, I won't be able to upload pictures or videos...boo, I know. I guess you'll just have to settle for my wit and charm:)

--------------------

We just got back to the hotel after visiting three of the orphanages. The kids at Battambang 2 did some dances for us. The kids at Battambang 1 played games with us. And we got to see a brand new orphanage...Battambang 5. There are about 10 kids there right now. I got some great pictures of them...just imagine really cute little kids with shy smiles and sweet dispositions adorably dressed in brand new clothes. As with all of the other newer orphanages, the kids were a little reticent at first to meet us. I look forward to getting to know them over the next couple of days.

Tomorrow we hope to visit the other two orphanages that are here. We couldn't get to the BB3 because the road was flooded. It's rained every night for the past 3 weeks here in Cambodia - a hard rain. In fact, those of you who have been here to Battambang before know what the new property for the Asia's Hope orphanages looks like. The lake is completely full now and there is no longer a path to walk to the back of the property...it's all under water. Again - got some great shots of that:)

Thank you for your continued prayers. Please pray that we get good rest this week as well as enjoy the time that we get to spend with the kids.
