Part One...Done!

Hello from Vietnam! Yes, we made it across the border with no problems this time. When we left the bus station, they actually checked our passports this time to make sure that everyone had the Vietnamese visa. There were a couple of guys who didn't....so the bus dropped them off at the Vietnamese embassy in Phnom Penh to get their visas! I was beginning to feel sorry for them when I realized that no one checked our visas last time, and we made it all the way to the border only to be taken back. I am glad those guys didn't have to suffer a 6 hour ride for nothing though.

I am at an internet cafe right now. I will share more details when we get back tomorrow. It's interesting being in my third country in Southeast Asia. Each one of them is unique. Thanks for all your prayers. We leave here in the afternoon tomorrow (Wednesday) which will be in the wee hours of the morning for you. I am praying for a smooth border crossing and a stamp in my passport for 90 days!!

One praise I will share before I sign off...last night as I was beginning to pack, I saw online that a tropical storm was headed to Vietnam, and the country was evacuating people from the coasts. They were predicting heavy winds and flooding in parts of the country including the city where I am now. I was wondering if that was going to start a whole different adventure for us...and I wasn't sure if we should go or not. But I kept searching into the night for updates on the storm, and it turned away from hitting Ho Chi Minh to making landfall farther north. And once it hit the coast, it drastically weakened. Now, I know it's not all about me, but I will be thankful for the gift that I was able to come as planned and am not sitting here in the middle of a tropical storm right now. It was actually sunny when we got off the bus!

Until back in Cambodia...
