Easter Sunday

Happy Easter! This morning, I got up bright and early to go out to the school to attend the Easter service with all the orhpans in Prek Eng. Now that I have moved, it's actually a slightly longer trip...about 40 minutes by moto. It's the dry season, so usually it doesn't rain. I say usually...today, it decided to rain as I was on my way out there. And, it's Khmer New Year, which means that most people leave the city to go to their home provinces and be with relatives. All that to say the roads were crowded, and I got there late.

But at least I got there and was able to enjoy time with the kids. All four orphanages attended. They sang songs, performed a mini-play, and had lunch afterward. It was good to be able to see all the kids. And so sweet to see them worship our Risen King.

A view of the service...lots of kids in a small space!

The kids from our orphanage performed a song and dance. I wish I had a better view for a picture. I love seeing them dance. The boys had new shirts on...as always, they looked incredibly handsome!

This girl from Prek Eng 1 performed to a song. It was beautiful. By the end, she had tears in her eyes.

Two of our girls sing during the service.

The kids of Prek Eng 2 sang a song...

and they performed a story about the crucifixion.

Our orphanage directors, Savong and Pisey. It was clear again today that these two are not just directors...they are loving parents to our children. They took the kids for an overnight trip to Savong's home family province right after the service. Rest assured that our kids are well-loved and well cared for.

The kids wait for their turn to receive lunch. There are over 100 children to be served, so you can imagine that some had to wait a long time. How patient they are though. No complaints. No pushing to be first. Just smiles and thankfulness.

Prek Eng 2 shows you their sandwiches. It was a real treat for them to get a whole sandwich to eat.

A close-up view of Sreylin's

The sandwich is bigger than Yohan:)

Timothy looked handsome in his red Khmer shirt.

Most of the kids wore new outfits today. Just like many kids in the states today:) It always makes me happy to see them having their basic needs met. New clothes and full meals...things that most of them did not have before coming to the orphanages.

The boys from Prek Eng 4 all had matching outfits. So cute.

Mealia...isn't she beautiful?!

I love this smile.
