Prey Veng

Hello Friends! I (Jen) just have a few minutes to type. There are so many things that we could share with you...each day is jam-packed with adventure. Yesterday (Monday) Keith and I traveled to Prey Veng - a city southeast of Phnom Penh. It was a 2 and 1/2 hour trip by car over a road that was sometimes asphalt and sometimes dirt. Definitely bumpy! There were 6 of us who went to a church there to perform a medical clinic, including 3 team members and 3 Cambodians to translate for us. The church was a small room with dirt floors and no windows. The pastor and his wife have 3 children...and they have taken in 8 orphans. The room was crowded with people wanting medical help. We only had medicine to treat minor illnesses...flu, abdominal issues, pains, etc. So it was sad when people came in with sicknesses that we couldn't treat...knowing that they have no money to visit a doctor or go to a hospital. One women came in with dangerously high blood pressure. One child we saw we thought was about 3 years old, but was actually ten.

Keith spent time with the kids and took pictures of the families. I got to be the pharmacist. I got a crash course in reading prescriptions and purposes of medications. It was definitely a blessing to be able to be there.

Last night, we went to an outreach dinner. The students who came were supposed to bring another person with them. A couple of team members sang songs and shared stories of how Jesus changed their lives. Twelve people accepted Christ into their hearts and began a personal relationship with Him.

We came back to the guest house to...you guessed it...no electricity! We went to sleep without it, but thankfully, it came on again during the night. The room I am in has no windows and sort of feels like a tomb without air conditioning!

We will write more later!
