School

Another busy day here in Southeast Asia. The day started with a trip to the Russian Market. I didn't go this time because I was finishing up things for our afternoon at the school. But the ladies had a very successful trip. If you would like to know more about the market, read this earlier post of mine. It's definitely a must-see when coming to Phnom Penh.

This afternoon, we headed to the Asia's Hope Christian School to do some English activities with the kids. A little Bingo, a little singing, a little pictionary...lots of fun:)

Kim and Gina help to unload the school supplies that Vista donated.

Rose and Danet (from PE2) play on the swing during a break.

Gina plays with the boys. They loved teasing her.

Morgan and Yohan

Kim and Hillary (a teammate from Ohio) teach the younger kids some words.

Morgan and Gina work with the older kids.

Hilary helps during a game of Bingo.

The kids had never played this before. They loved it:)

After school, we got to go to the orphanage to play with our kids for about an hour. As always, it was loads of fun. I shot a couple of videos that I will post tomorrow. (It's getting late tonight.) You'll have to settle for pictures today:)

Sopheak, Senghong, and Longdich play with some of the new toys.

Kim combs Rebekah's hair.

Pisey and Kimhou...don't you love her hair?!

Morgan plays a game with Rebekah.

Another game of 4-square

Morgan plays a game of Twister with the kids.

Yohan, Rebekah, and Kimhou

Pisey shows off her gift from Vista...a small token of our love for her and our appreciation for how hard she works and how much she sacrifices for our kids. (Savong was also given a gift.) She was very excited about it.

Of course, the true servant that she is...the very first thing that she did was to use the nail polish on one of the children and share some of the other goodies with them. What a blessing she and Savong are. And what models of sacrificial givers. Our children are truly in very good hands.

We are getting up very early tomorrow to go to a local dump. I have never been there before, but I hear that it's guaranteed to grip our hearts. Lots of families live in the dump with little kids searching through mounds of trash for bits of plastic, metal, or other items that can be sold. I am thinking that it will be tough to see.

What a blessing to see you all with those kids. It is obviously very hot, yet you all are out there running around and carrying those darling kids. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Love you all!

Thank you Jen for the pictures / updates ... no wonder you're always the last to sleep! It was good seeing you earlier. Kim looked liked she was tired. Between the activities and the heat, I imagine it takes the strength out of you quickly. Praying now for your time tomorrow at the dump. Certainly doesn't sound like a pleasant place to visit. It breaks my heart to think of all of those little ones scouring through it.
