Signs

Continuing with the lighter side...I have been here for 5 months now and am settling into this life. Here are some signs that I am turning into a missionary. I suppose that they could each mean something else, especially number 3. (What's that about?) So, think about the list collectively. They are in no particular order.

1. I haven't worn make-up since September.

2. I'm pretty comfortable with dirt and sweat.

3. My backpack broke, and so, instead of buying a new one, I duct-taped it back together.

4. I wear the same clothes each week...just changing which solid-colored top I wear with which solid-colored pants.

5. Lots of days, I wear a bandanna on my head.

6. I know how to use a squatty potty.

7. I have no idea what movies, tv shows, or songs are out there now.

8. I kill mosquitos, ants, and cockroaches on a regular basis.

9. I keep forgetting that it's winter in Ohio.

10. I don't smell the scent of the city anymore (and it's possible that I smell like it and can't tell.) Although, yes, I still smell the sewage when I pass it.

11. I have traded a purse for a backpack, a car for a bike, and a leather couch for wicker. (That last one is the most painful.)

12. I own a moto helmet.

13. I can give directions to a moto driver in another language and reach my intended destination.

14. I can't remember the last time I brushed my teeth with tap water.

15. Live chickens hanging off the back of a moto no longer shock me.

16. Power outages are normal. (That's twice today.)

17. I carry bug spray, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, toilet paper, and bottled water with me at all times.

18. I have an incredibly uneven tan. (My sandal tan is so bad that the kids think my feet must be dirty and try to wipe it off.)

19. I no longer tune in to the music, bells, or shouting outside from the people selling wares up and down the street.

20. My perfume of choice is Deep Woods Off.

I could continue, but the power just came back on, and I am going to go take advantage of the light we now have. But, stay tuned...more to come. Hopefully deeper thoughts on the next one:)
